To The Boss That Never Believed In Me…
To the boss that never believed in me, thank you. To the boss that never thought I was smart enough, experienced enough, educated enough, or passionate enough, thank you.
After five long years of college- countless nights of staying up all night to study, 10 page research papers, finals, internships, and study groups, you finally graduate with your bachelors degree and if you are lucky you land a job.
You start at the bottom, of course. You have to. You put in your time, you are loyal to your company, you work as hard as you possibly can, but you outgrow what you are doing. You begin to feel stuck and know in your heart you are worth so much more.
They say, how are you suppose to gain experience if no one will ever give you the chance to? That is a true statement, I’ve lived it.
To the boss that came to me later on, thank you. Thank you for seeing my potential, loving me, lifting me up and believing in me. Thank you for guiding me, supervising me, fighting for me, and giving me the chance to gain the experience needed to move on in my career. Thank you for helping me figure out what I am meant to do, for helping me find myself. Thank you for the chance to succeed, the chance to learn, and the chance to thrive, because I did.
To the boss who is so incredibly humble and treats me as if he or she is working right beside me, thank you. To the boss who challenges me, helps me to grow, relates to me and tells me they love me every single time they hang up the phone, thank you.
Thank you to every boss I have ever had, because you have led me right to where I needed to be.
I challenge you to ask yourself, are you fulfilled? Do you believe you have talent or hard work that is going unnoticed? I promise you, there is a boss out there who is willing to give you a shot. I only know, because I’ve lived it.
Today, I could not be apart of a more dedicated and loving work family🖤 Yes, I say family because we are one. Thank you to the few bosses who believed in me, I will be forever grateful.
And to the boss that never believed in me, thank you.
